Frequently asked questions

  • Why is there a site for Young Caregivers?
  • Teenagers and young adults who are taking care of friend or family member face special challenges. A lot of us are trying to balance school, new jobs, new relationships and social lives with being present and responsible for someone else. Young caregivers don't necessarily have the social network, finances or life experience to prepare them for this kind of responsibility. Communicating with one another and sharing our stories can be a good way to feel less alone, and the web allows us to do it from our homes, offices and phones.
  • What's with the name?
  • It's all around us is meant to be open. This site is what you make of it. Caregiving is all around us (did you know that as many as one in three caregivers of aged adults is under 40?). Flowers are all around us. Beauty is all around us. Take a look at what is around you and share it with the community.
  • How do you define Young?
  • We don't - you do. Chances are if you feel young in this context then you are. This project is more about providing an inclusive space for those who feel isolated from other caregiver support environments. Maybe that's most people, we're not sure. If you're interested in participating, please don't worry about your age.. it's all relative.
  • I'd like to post some pictures/poetry/a video, how can I do that?
  • Check out the Participate page. To participate you need a log-in. So just sign up on the right.
